Green River residents help secure housing for new therapist, improving access to mental health care

In a rural town like Green River, access to mental health services is essential—but often limited. Finding qualified professionals to fill critical roles can be challenging. Green River Medical Center recently experienced this while searching for a Behavioral Health Therapist.

To overcome this challenge, the center turned to 3RNET. This is an online resource. It connects healthcare professionals with job opportunities in rural and underserved communities.

Through 3RNET, Green River Medical Center connected with Lexis Ely, a behavioral health professional who was eager to use her education in a meaningful way.

“3RNET popped up and had the most efficient setup where I could filter exactly what I do and the state I am in,” exclaimed Lexis Ely, Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor, at Green River Medical Center. “I finally get to use my education, do what I love to do, and not stress everyday about my choice to get an education.”

After seeing the listing, Lexis reached out, and had an interview the very next day. She was offered the position and accepted. Lexis is thrilled to be a part of a team that focuses on creating a safe and welcoming environment for all.

Once Lexis was hired, a new challenge arose. While affordable housing is a challenge for Utah, it is particularly difficult to find in rural areas. That’s why the Green River community came together to help find housing for the town’s new therapist. The medical center’s board members helped search for housing. After finding a place to accommodate Lexis and her beloved dog, Thor, they contacted the landlord to ask for help. The landlord agreed to reserve the property until Lexis could see it. He also discounted the rent to support access to mental health care for the town.

“We are delighted to have Lexis working as a Behavioral Health Therapist at Green River Medical Center. She is helping the organization and the community,” stated Cameron Willford, CEO, of Green River Medical Center. 3RNET can put the right candidate in front of you. The platform is easy to use and the benefits are tremendous. There is no downside.”
