The Office of Primary Care and Rural Health (PCRH) proudly honors Caroline Wallin with the prestigious Impact Award for her extraordinary contributions as the clinic manager and medical assistant at Enterprise Valley Medical Clinic. Wallin’s unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of the Enterprise community makes her a remarkable advocate and leader.
Walling was nominated by Shlisa Hughes, Quality Improvement Practice Coach at the Association for Utah Community Health. “Wallin Caroline exemplifies compassion and dedication. She goes above and beyond to ensure that healthcare is available to all in her small community in Southwest, Utah,” Hughes remarked.
Rural communities often face barriers to healthcare, and Wallin is at the forefront of bridging those gaps. She spearheaded critical initiatives, including a mobile mammogram program that brought life-saving breast cancer screenings directly to the community. She also helped bring affordable colorectal cancer screenings and essential follow-up care for residents of Enterprise.
Wallin’s dedication extends well beyond state lines. In 2024, she completed her second humanitarian mission to Kenya, where she treated approximately 200 patients per day and helped establish maturation clinics for young girls. Her efforts also included distributing hundreds of feminine hygiene kits to remote villages.
Reflecting on her experience in Kenya, Wallin shared, “ Witnessing poverty and a lack of access to basic necessities like clean water, nutrition, and medical care was eye opening. Yet, the people we served showed me that happiness is a mindset. The people we served had so little, yet they were among the happiest people I’ve ever met.”
Recently, Wallin has turned her attention to the critical link between nutrition and health. She worked with state partners and the Utah Food Bank to establish a full-service food pantry housed at the Enterprise Valley Medical Clinic. It provides dignity and support to local families in need.
