Utah Medical Education Council Announces Residency Grant Program for Fiscal Year 2026
The Utah Medical Education Council (UMEC), a subcommittee of the Utah Health Workforce Advisory Council (HWAC), is pleased to announce that they will soon be accepting applications for the Fiscal Year 2026 Residency Grant Program. This program was formally established in July 2022 through H.B. 295, now Utah Code 26B-4-711, to expand and strengthen Utah’s health workforce. The goal of the Residency Grant Program is to create more residency programs and slots for medical students in Utah. UMEC will prioritize applications that either address a workforce shortage (primary care, dental care or mental health) occurring in Utah, serve an underserved population or are based in a rural area.

- intends to create an eligible program within the grant term.
What is the grant funding amount available?
The UMEC has $1,500,000 to fund awardees of the Fiscal Year 2026 Residency Grant Program.
