Utah Cross-Profession Minimum Data Set

The Health Workforce Advisory Council, with help from its Data Subcommittee and the Health Workforce Information Center (HWIC), developed the Utah Cross-Profession Minimum Data Set (UCPMDS). This list of survey questions is used to gather key information for health workforce planning throughout Utah.

The UCPMDS was based on a national model called the Cross-Profession Minimum Data Set (CPMDS). Seven national healthcare groups worked with a consulting team called Veritas Health Solutions to create the CPMDS. The goal of the CPMDS is to collect information from licensed healthcare professionals to help understand workforce needs and support better-informed policies and strategies. Using this UCPMDS, optional surveys have been created for all licensed healthcare professionals. These surveys can be filled out when clinicians renew their licenses through the Utah Department of Commerce, Division of Professional Licensing. The HWIC then reviews the survey data and creates reports and dashboards to share the results. Learn more about the HWIC reports and dashboards.
