The Utah Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) awarded Roger Marett with an Impact Award. Marett, Vice President of Physician Services at Uintah Basin Medical Center, was recognized for recruiting 141 providers since 1991. Marrett is also credited with helping the medical center grow. The facility was only 71,505 square feet in 1991. It has grown to 459,569 square feet today. This growth provides better access to healthcare for people who live in the Uintah Basin and includes:
- infusion services;
- wound care services;
- a 90-bed nursing and rehabilitation facility;
- a stand-alone emergency room in Vernal;
- physician office space; and
- specialty care.
“Roger has taught me how to develop a genuine trusting relationship with our physicians through a high level of transparency, communication, and a determination to ensure the success of each of our physicians,” said Jim Marshall, president and CEO, Uintah Basin Healthcare. “I admire his passion for his work.”
“We’ve worked diligently to assess the needs of the Uintah Basin and to recruit all the specialties that a population of 60,000 can support,” said Marett. “We’ve taken quite a bit of risk at times, bringing in entirely new specialties, but the reward for the community and the hospital has been dramatic.”
