Loan Repayment Programs

• The Health Care Workforce Financial Assistance Program (HCWFAP) is a three-year program serving multiple types of health providers such as nurse practitioners, licensed clinical social workers, physicians assistants, dentists, and more. 
  • The provider’s employer must match 20% of the award amount.
  • The provider must have an unrestricted medical license.
  • The provider must have worked at the site for fewer than 18 months.
  • The review committee considers applications 2 to 3 times per year. The application cycle is open on a rolling basis.

• The Rural Physicians Loan Repayment Program (RPLRP) provides educational loan repayment assistance to physicians who contract to work in a rural hospital for a minimum of two years of service. 
  • The physician's employer must match 100% of the award amount.
  • The physician is an M.D. or D.O.
  • The physician must be a licensed physician in the state of Utah.
  • The review committee considers applications 2 to 3 times per year. The application cycle is open on a rolling basis.

The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) is a federal program to provide scholarships and loan repayment to healthcare professionals working at approved sites.

• Primary care, mental, and dental health professionals may apply. 
• It is administered by HRSA.
• PCRH is HRSA’s Utah partner, assists sites with the application process, and reviews all applications. 
• The application cycle opens in February and closes in April.
